We at Dentistree offer our patients the most esthetic Cosmetic fillings .
The Dental fillings are the most common type of dental treatment which aims to preserve the health of an affected tooth. Teeth that are damaged due to cavities, trauma (broken teeth) or are discolored need to be restored with fillings.
Materials used for tooth filling
A variety of filling materials are available but due to increased esthetic demand, the tooth colored fillings are preferred over other materials such as
- Gold Fillings
These Tooth colored Fillings are also known as cosmetic fillings or white fillings since they resemble the color of tooth. They are also used for esthetic correction of your teeth, apart from restoring a cavitated / discolored tooth. The composite fillings are resins and are available in different shade so as to match the natural tooth color.
Apart from their resemblance to tooth, they have an added advantage of preserving / conserving the existing tooth structure. Minimal preparation is needed for the composite fillings as they bind chemically and mechanically to the tooth, unlike silver fillings which require extensive preparation for their retention. Thus the white fillings are conservative and are limited only to the area of involvement. Also these fillings do not undergo dissolution like other cements and thus last longer.
Working procedure of this Dental Fillings :
The procedure is very quick & simple and may last 15-20 minutes depending upon the involvement of tooth structure.
When placed on the tooth they are soft and can be molded to the desired shape before using the LED light. The curing process due to use of blue light(LED) makes the filling material hard & strong enough to even chew immediately.
As such there is no restriction after filling, but it is advisable to avoid highly colored food substances such as strong tea, coffee, colored sauces, etc., as the filling has high chances of absorbing the color in the first 24-48 hours. Having slight sensitivity post operatively is normal & should go in few days. If it persists then one must report back to the dentist.
A properly placed filling will last for several years: however they may even wear & break down due to dietary habits. Maintaining proper oral hygiene, dietary instructions & visiting a Dentist once in 6 months may help to increase the longevity of the restorations..
